Park opened April
1993. As an expansion team
the Marlins have been very successful in this stadium, originally built
for football in 1987. The
Marlins have won the 1997 and 2003 World Series titles since moving into
this facility. On 5-11-1996
Al Leiter pitched the ballpark’s first no-hitter against Colorado and
Arizona’s Randy Johnson recorded his 3000th strikeout on
9-10-2000.
